Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday killed three police officers and injured one in Osiri Divisional Command, located in Onicha Local Government Area of ​​Ebonyi State.

The Daily Post recalls that armed miscreants killed a police inspector and injured two others at the Union Bank roundabout in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, on Monday night.

So far four police officers have been killed by hoodlums in the state within two days, and a total of three officers have been seriously injured during the attacks.

Police Commissioner Falaye Olele confirmed the attack in a signed statement made available to journalists in Abakaliki by Onom Onowwakpoya, a spokesman for the Ebonyi State Police Command.

According to the statement: “Command workers on stop and search duty in Oshiri Division were attacked by armed hoodlums. Sadly, three policemen lost their lives; one was injured and is currently receiving treatment in hospital .

“Tactical teams were immediately prepared in the area to chase the hoodlums. As a result, two miscreants were gunned down and others escaped being shot.”

According to police officials, the items recovered from the miscreants included a Lexus ES-350 model, an imitation AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine with seven rounds of ammunition, an SMG rifle and a case of ammunition with the magazine.
