two female leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) Gwari Local Government from Birnin was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday.

Birinin Gwari Emirate Progressive Union (BEPU) president Ishaq Kasai confirmed the development to reporters in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Mr Kasai said the incident happened around Manini area when the victims were returning from the inauguration ceremony of Uba Sani, the new governor of Kaduna.

He said bandits blocked the road and kidnapped two APC women leaders along with several unidentified passengers.

Mr Kasai said the passengers abducted included the woman leader – Lami Awarware and her assistant, Hulatu Aliyu.

He said the kidnappers have not yet contacted the families of the victims.

Kaduna police spokesman Muhammad Jalige could not immediately be reached for comment on the incident on Wednesday evening.
