President Joe Biden mocked Ron DeSantis during a Twitter Space event with CEO Elon Musk during his 2024 campaign kickoff for governor of Florida that had technical issues.
The Twitter event, which began at 6 p.m. ET, was plagued by technical issues and audio was removed almost immediately. David Sachs, one of the event’s moderators, said the sheer number of participants was “melting down the servers”.
Mr Biden, for his part, posted a link to his donation page with a quip: “This link works.”
Mr Musk acknowledged the issues when the Twitter Spaces event finally got up and running. “You can tell from some of the mistakes that it’s real,” he said.
Mr. DeSantis offered a prepared statement attacking Mr. Biden’s immigration policies and railing against so-called “woke” policies.
“We must end the culture of defeatism that has infected the Republican Party over the past few years,” Mr. DeSantis added in a not-so-disguised jab at Donald Trump. “We must look forward, not backward.” Notably, Mr. DeSantis did not name Mr. Trump.
