Canada’s dairy farmers seeking another milk price hike amid inflation

Milk prices in Canada may rise for the second time in a year.

Canadian dairy farmers have asked the Canadian Dairy Commission for a mid-year increase in milk prices due to the current inflationary environment.

The industry lobby group says farmers are facing a never-before-seen rise in prices on goods and services required for milk production.


It said that in less than a year, the cost of fertilizer has risen 44 per cent, fuel has risen by 32 per cent and animal feed has risen by eight per cent.

The Canadian Dairy Commission says it will hold deliberations later this month and issue its decision around June 17.
