Catherine Tresa was born on 10 September, 1989 to Malayali parents, Frank Mario Alexander and Tresa Alexander in Dubai, UAE and raised in a Christian household. She completed her Class 12 in Dubai and shifted to Bangalore for higher education. While studying, she learnt to play piano, and obtained trained in singing, dancing, ice skating and debating, stating that she trusts that she is “good at anything I put my mind to”. In Dubai, Tresa was an Emirates Environment volunteer. At the age of 14, Tresa completed some amateur modelling for fashion design graduate students. After coming to India, she modeled for Nalli Silks, Chennai Silks, Fast Track, Josco Jewellers and Deccan Chronicle. She has as well shot for Srikantadatta Wodeyar’s Maharaja Calendar and had joined with Prasad Bidapa in many ramp shows all over India.

Catherine created her acting place in 2010 Kannada movie Shankar IPS alongside Duniya Vijay. She moved on to perform in the Malayalam movies, The Thriller & Uppukandam Brothers: Back in Action. In 2011, she completed a character in the Kannada movie Vishnu that she said was “equally opposite to her real life”. It was followed by the Kannada movie Godfather alongside Upendra, which was directed by cinematographer turned moviemaker Sethu Sriram. Catherine’s role in the movie was that of an older mentally bothered lady. Her acting recognized her her 1st nomination for an award in the Best Supporting Actress genre at the 60th Filmfare Awards South.
She following appointed for Chammak Challo directed by Neelakanta, in which she portrayed “an urbane, bold and dynamic girl”. It revealed in February 2013 and unsuccessful at the box office, however she obtained noticed and got positive analysis.
