Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (SOVCI), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has said that children need to be given the right environment to grow and develop to their full potential.

SOVCI founder and team lead Uriel Momah said this at the Children’s Day celebration by the NGO for orphans.

The Children’s Day celebration was held at the Julius Berger Hall of the Faculty of Management Science, Lagos State University.

Momah said the event was specially organized to give children an opportunity to have a fun-filled Children’s Day celebration and were able to showcase their talents as they interacted with other children.

He said that every child has enough potential within him to make him successful and reach his full potential in life, adding that they should be given the right environment to grow and develop these potentials.

According to him, this is one of the reasons why the group sought to support various orphanages, which are doing a lot to provide for and take care of these orphaned and vulnerable children, who otherwise would have had their hopes dashed.

He called for more committed and proactive efforts from the government and other corporate organizations to ensure a fulfilling and happy future for children.

At the event, children from various orphanages and schools around the Ijeododo and Ojo areas of Lagos offered special prayers for the administration of President Bola Tinubu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In their prayers, the children asked God to help the new administration so that no Nigerian child should suffer or have their hope and future cut short.

The event included a host of fun-filled activities including discussions on mental health, quiz competitions, talent shows and presentations and performances from some of the houses present at the event.

A live music presentation was also given by E-Mansion Music Group. The program concluded with the cutting of the SOVCI Children’s Day cake.
