The federal government has agreed to stop deductions from the accounts of state governments to meet the obligations of local government councils and the London/Paris Club.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, while briefing the governors of the 36 states at a meeting held on Tuesday night.
He said that Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed has also ensured refund of previous deductions from the accounts of the respective states.
The meeting also saw a change in the leadership of the forum with the emergence of Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrajak as the new chairman and Oyo State Governor Sei Makinde as the vice-chairman.
