First case of monkeypox confirmed in B.C.

The first case of monkeypox in British Columbia has been reported in a patient from Vancouver.

The BC Center for Disease Control confirmed the infection through laboratory testing, it said on Monday, and is awaiting further confirmation from the National Microbiology Laboratory.

Vancouver Coastal Health is conducting a public health follow-up, a news release said.
