The gunmen shot the General Overseer of Freedom Power Chapel International, Rev. Mike Ochigbo, a New Generation Church with headquarters in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
One of the church’s pastors, identified as John Moses, was also taken away by the yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
Sources said on Wednesday that the two clerics were attacked and abducted at Reverend Ochigbo’s residence in Yola’s Nyibango area on Tuesday night.
Confirming the abduction of the clerics, Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje said that Police Commissioner Afolabi Babatola had deployed operatives of the command drawn from the Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT), crack squad and other tactical squads. To save the victims.
Nguroje said police personnel would conduct day-night operations at criminal hideouts and black spots across the state to rescue the victims.
