During her time in Bigg Boss 7, Panjabi developed a close friendship with tv artist Pratyusha Banerjee. Following Banerjee’s suicide, Panjabi revealed a movie based on her life & was sued by Banerjee’s ex-boyfriend. Kamya wed to Bunty Negi in 2003. She gave birth to her daughter Aara in 2009. They separated in 2013.
She dated tv performer Karan Patel but they ended up in 2015. Panjabi wed to her boyfriend, a Delhi-based doctor Shalabh Dang, on 10 February 2020. Shalabh had a son from his last marriage, Ishaan. Kamya & Shalabh are now parents to both Aara & Ishaan.

Career
Panjabi suit famous for playing negative portrayals in Indian tv serials such as Reth, Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani and Banoo Mein Teri Dulhann. Kamya has as well portrayed positive portrayals in Piya Ka Ghar, Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak and Kyun Hota Hai Pyaar. She was part of the 2nd season of Comedy Circus comedy show on Sony TV and joined in Bigg Boss 7 in Colors TV.
Panjabi presented in minor roles in Bollywood films like Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Yaadein, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Koi Mil Gaya. In 1997, she presented in a music video whooped Mehndi Mehndi, and was as well part of the music video Kala Shah Kala by Anamika.

Controversy
Kamya Punjabi was landed in a dispute when she got a legal notice from a Mumbai court in the year 2017. According to reports, Rahul Raj Singh filed defamation opposed to her as she revealed a short movie titled Hum Kuch Keh Na Sakey starring late artist Pratyusha Banerjee which was complete similar to the actress’s real-life and has a role named Rahul in it. The movie was published after the death of performer Pratyusha Banerjee.
