Thakur was born on 25 July, 2000 in Benipatti, Madhubani district, Bihar to a musician & music teacher working in Delhi Pt. Ramesh Thakur and Bharti Thakur. She is named after goddess Sita also as her mother tongue. Thakur, together with her 2 brothers were trained by their father in Hindustani classical music, Harmonium and Tabla. Realising his daughter’s strength, her father shifted themselves to Dwarka near New Delhi for better chances. Maithili and her brothers studied at Bal Bhavan International School.

Even so, during her studies, her siblings were teached by his father in Hindustani classical music, harmonium, and tabla (in the case of Rishvas). Maithili’s musical ventured began in 2011 when she created her launch from the tv reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, which was published on Zee TV pipeline.

As well, she has been completed many reality shows and many stages shows. Thakur didn’t win the title of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lill Champs and done the 2nd position after losing by 2 votes.
