There are two basins in the coalfield, namely Singrauli Main basin and Moher Subbasin The total coal reserve held by NCL is 10.06 billion tons. A small portion of the Moher sub-basin can be found in the Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, while the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh encompasses the majority of the basin. Through ten opencast mines, NCL’s entire coal mining operation is currently concentrated in the Moher Sub-basin. The Singrauli main basin, which is located to the west of the coalfield, has not been extensively explored.
