Listen: Ron DeSantis’ presidential launch has major technical problems

Ron DeSantis’ much-anticipated 2024 campaign launch failed on Wednesday night after it was marred by technical glitches from the shutdown.

The Florida governor, 44, chose to announce his presidential run in an unconventional way — at a Twitter space event with Elon Musk and David Sachs.

But, the event got off to a rocky start when it crashed several times and the sound stopped repeatedly.

While Musk claimed the servers were overwhelmed by the sheer volume of people tuning in to listen, Mr DeSantis faced derision for the forceful launch from online commentators and both sides of the political aisle.

Mr. DeSantis, seen as Donald Trump’s biggest rival for the Republican vote, tried to brush off the debacle in a Fox News interview and has been making the rounds of right-wing media on Thursday.

In an interview he said, if elected president, he would consider pardoning people ranging from the people of the Capitol riot to Mr. Trump for the crimes of January 6th.
