Toronto beats Forge FC to win eighth Voyageurs Cup

HAMILTON – Toronto FC won their record-breaking eighth Voyagers Cup after beating Forge FC 5-4 on penalties in the postponed 2020 Canadian Championship at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday.

Both teams won 1–1 in Hamilton in front of 13,715 fans for 90 minutes. TFC won the game 5–4 on penalties when Forge defender Kwasi Poku struck the crossbar on his team’s final attempt during a sudden death.

Forge FC was the first Canadian Premier League team to participate in the final of the Canadian Championship. He carried the pace of play for most of the match and fought with the Major League Soccer club until the end.


Alejandro Pozzuolo scored for Toronto FC in the 57th minute when his shot from inside the box went past Forge FC goalkeeper Tristan Henry.

Hammers wasted no time finding an equalizer.
